Rock Pi Raspberry Pi clone soon available from $39 | 1 Inch Round Lcd Display

Light guns were a fun way to learn to shoot things on consoles, enjoying their heyday in the 80s and 90s. The original designs largely relied on the unique characteristics of CRT televisions and the timing involved in the drawing of their frames. Unfortunately, due to a variety of reasons (dependent on the exact techniques used), they typically do not work at all with modern LCD & plasma screens.

The M20 may still be dwarfed by some competing phones in terms of overall specs, but at a starting price of ₹10,990 ($112), it offers some impressive features that we still can’t believe are actually being offered for such a price. Whether all those features come together to form a cohesive package that we can recommend is what we’ll find out in this review (although the title has probably given away our overall impressions already).

While the Pi supports a far wider range of operating systems, the NanoPi M4 is listed as supporting Android 7.1, alongside Ubuntu 18.04 Desktop and Ubuntu Core.

[Updated: 7PM] — Radxa has posted specs for a $39 and up, community backed “Rock Pi” Raspberry Pi lookalike with a Rockchip RK3399, USB 3.0, M.2, HDMI 2.0, and native GbE, plus optional WiFi, BT, and PoE. Radxa is prepping a Raspberry Pi pseudo clone called the Rock Pi that runs Linux or Android on a hexa-core Rockchip RK3399 SoC. It joins the RK3399-based NanoPi M4 in closely matching the RPi 3 layout, and it appears it may be the most affordable RK3399 based SBC yet, starting at $39 with 1GB RAM.

Built-in speakers are never any good anyway, so I’d much, much rather have very thin borders than speakers. I like to be able to put monitors next to each other without having huge borders between the actual screens.

Though there were some devices that used scanned lasers, most of the high-res recorders I can think of had a modified motion picture camera pointing down at a very hi-res, hi-dynamic-range monitor. There was a filter wheel in front of the lens with RGB filters, and sometimes another wheel with ND filters, to improve the dynamic range by writing multiple exposure passes onto one frame of film.

Needless to say, it’s telling that LG doesn’t include an HDMI cable in the box. You’ll want to stick with Thunderbolt 3 if at all possible, or if you’re utilizing an eGPU without Thunderbolt 3 passthrough, such as the Razer Core X (review) you’ll want to use DisplayPort.

The AtomX Sync records embedded timecode directly into the ProRes or Avid DnXHD file in the Ninja V. That means the timecode metadata can be read by any NLE – there’s no need for an external sync box or genlock.

All of these specs improve on the most powerful Raspberry Pi, the Pi 3 Model B+, and the makers of the Orange Pi 3 suggest their board has a similar range of uses to Raspberry Pi, from desktop computer to media center.
