The fundamental principle behind this process is replacing point-to-point jumper wires with custom cables, made using 0.1″ pitch headers and wire-wrapping techniques. Other techniques include pinning down components with Blu-tack, and selecting components with the appropriate wire diameter to avoid them falling out of the breadboard’s spring clip contacts. There’s a single 13MP sensor that does the job adequately with HDR and panorama modes in the camera app. Storage is 16GB, expandable to 256G via a microSD card. And, as ever, Android 8.0 isn’t overloaded with useless extras, besides a few handy Moto additions.

Why so skeptical. I do not see any complicated calculations to be done here to determine the cursor position. The only thing that has to work is the detection of the screen edge, which in most cases should be relatively easy since there is an high gradient in brightens from the screen to the monitor-frame. Further you can assume that in the center of the image you are inside the monitor since it does not make a lot of sense to point somewhere else in the room. (you might “hack” it by pointing on a white paper on a dark background but so what) And i guess the distortion just can be ignored since its not a preciosion-pointing-device.

If you’ve not played with the Hitachi HD44780 LCD controller before, it has four-bit and eight-bit data modes. In four-bit, used here, you only need to send data on D4, D5, D6, and D7. RS selects between command and data mode, and E is the clock signal that latches the data in on a falling edge. Mull that over a bit before reading the next paragraph.

In my personal opinion, it’s a little strange to release a firmware update for a camera when users still don’t have any way of currently recording the RAW signal. Maybe they should have co-ordinated the release a little more closely with Atomos to avoid this happening.

When I need more io buttons, I sometimes share buttons with leds using a resistor, some code to make sure the led doesn’t light when the button is pushed.

The Ninja V also has a 1/4″-20 reducer in the 3/8″ thread which gives you further versatility when it comes to mounting.

As versatile as the $35 Raspberry Pi is, it is just one of many single-board computers available to buy today.
